Through it’s main product – TR Elastic Urethane – Tellure Rôta offers the industry the lowest possible starting effort and rolling resistance.
TR EIastic Urethane is an innovative product that combines the load capacity and wear-and-tear resistance of polyurethane with the typical characteristics of elastic rubber, such as easy overcoming of obstacles, vibration and shock absorption and noise reduction.
TR Elastic Urethane vs Rubber vs Polyurethane
Castor wheels come in a variety of materials, the most common being rubber and polyurethane (urethane for short).
But what’s the difference? To determining the best wheel for your specific application, we need to look at the properties of each material.
Material Properties
Rolling resistance is important because it affects aspects like manoeuvrability of the equipment, and operator fatigue. Because of the synthetic nature of polyurethane, these castor wheels are more uniform than rubber.
It’s this uniformity as well as polyurethane being a harder compound than rubber that results in lower roll resistance. TR Urethane combines the elasticity of rubber with the hardness and uniformity of polyurethane for a superior performing product.
The hardness of a material is measured by a device known as a Shore Durometer. Automotive tyres as an example have a Shore value of 65A, Standard Urethane a value of 95A, and TR Urethane a value of 75A – perfect for Handling applications.
Polyurethane offers a higher level of resistance to wear and tear compared to rubber. Although rubber castors offer a softer ride, they will lose pieces of tread over time and are not as resistant to oil, grease and chemicals.
There is evidence that shows polyurethane castor wheels can last up to three times longer than rubber castor wheels.
A dekaNewton (daN) is the unit used to measure Load Capacity.
As shown in the graph below, our Super Elastic Urethane castor wheels have an excellent load capacity compared to rubber. The ergonomic push/pull capability is superior.
